A question

Hello all! I had a question about the Art Institute with regards to a culinary school. Is it any good? Worth going to?

My choices in the Seattle area seem limited to the AI and a local community college. Help? :-)

The advice that I have received is to NOT go to the seattle AI. That north seattle community college has an INCREDIBLE culinary arts program for a fraction of the price that the AI charges.

Isn't that at South Seattle?

I'll look seriously at it, but the advantage (at ten times the cost) of the AI is that I can hopefully go to school at night. I'm so disgusted with this states offerings for evening programs I can't stand it. Apparently the state doesn't believe full time working people should be able to earn a degree without a ton of hurdles to jump.

I have heard great things about it, though, so I will definately check it out. :-)

Yeah that is true about the night class situation. I go to Edmonds Community College for culinary arts and I had to quit work so that I could do the all day morning/afternoon classes. I'm not sure about South Seattle, but I have heard great things about North. My chef even went to visit to find out how they functioned and was absolutely impressed and amazed.

I'm in San Diego and I go to Ai for culinary arts, but I have heard the program in San Diego generally surpasses a lot of the programs elsewhere. If the community colleges near you offer better programs, I'd go with that!

I go to Renton Tech, I'm in the professional baking program and it is pretty good. The Culinary program seems good as well. We have no evening classes, so that might be your only problem. I think they are in class from 7am-1pm, except when they do their breakfast rotation and then I believe they are there at 6am. I'm in class from 6am-12:30pm.

Cookery is not chemistry. It is an art.
